How to Change the Registered Office of a Company

The registered office is the official address where the company receives legal notices and keeps its statutory records. When you move premises, you must update it with the ROC. The process depends on how far you are moving.
Three types of change

Documents needed for the new address
- Rent agreement or ownership proof
- Recent utility bill
- No Objection Certificate from the owner
Timelines
INC-22 must be filed within 30 days of the change. Inter-state shifts take longer because the Regional Director’s approval involves notices to creditors and a public advertisement.
After the change
- Update the address on the company’s letterhead, website and invoices.
- Amend GST registration, the bank account, PAN/TAN records and other licences.
- Display the company name and address board at the new office.
