What Is a Certificate of Origin?
A Certificate of Origin (CoO) confirms the country where the exported goods were produced. Importing countries use it to decide customs duty, quotas and other trade rules.
A preferential CoO lets buyers claim reduced duty under trade agreements such as SAFTA, India-UAE CEPA or India-Japan CEPA. A non-preferential CoO simply certifies origin and is issued by authorised bodies such as chambers of commerce.
