What Is the Independent Directors’ Databank?
Every individual appointed, or intending to be appointed, as an independent director of a company must register in the Independent Directors’ Databank maintained by the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) under section 150 of the Companies Act, 2013.
Registration can be taken for one year, five years or for life. Unless exempt, the director must also pass an online proficiency self-assessment test conducted by IICA within two years of inclusion in the databank.
